I had put this under surgery, follow up from my foot op.

The struggling the past few nites, waking up stiff and sore in various joints. My foot is fine, just tender as expected.

I have been thinking about my well being and some pain relief, at the same time balancing why I came off methtrx 2 years ago - to have a baby (sadly not happened).

I decided to ring my ra helpline a couple of days ago for advice and help in making me feel better, left my details and one of the team called me back later in the day for a chat. I said I know I cannot have a steriod injection whilst toes are healing and rods in toes, can I go on methtrix again. I can't because it will hinder the healing process (I know it takes 3-4 months to work).

All I can have is the usual pain killers I've been taking for years!

I have no problems in waiting another three weeks for pins to come out for steriod injection, I felt that I had to share my few nites of playing devils advocate with myself in making a decision about asking for help.

Feel better for chatting to ra nurse, than carrying on in silence.

Just wanted to share with you all, don't suffer in silence if your joints are being active.
Take care
Jane

Hi Jane, it is so difficult deciding about drugs. Two years is a long time to be off mtx and I sympathise with your dilema and wanting a baby. I know how much mtx helps me and would dread coming off it. Hopefully the steroid inj will help you soon. Glad to hear the toes are healing so well, hope you feel better soon. Best wishes Zena x.

Hi Jane - sorry to hear that you're feeling more achey than usual, but it's good that the RA nurse helped to clarify your choices. You've obviously been very patient and determined over the past couple of years, and of course it's natural to feel anxious and frustrated from time to time. You're doing the right thing to step back and have a good think about your well-being and ask for help to revisit those decisions. Maybe it will be easier to decide when the foot is healed and you can get some relief with a steroid jab. 3 weeks is not too long if you keep the time filled with enjoyable stuff - the Olympics is coming and that'll give us plenty to watch and cheer about - and then hopefully you'll feel better about whatever you decide.

Best wishes - Sylvia xx
